If you delete the item outside of the model, example from the Sources folder—the shape remains in the model but is displayed with a red cross 
and you can no longer open the linked item.
To delete a project item from within a model:
Click the shape that represents the required project item.
On the Model menu, click Delete From Project.
Click Yes to confirm.
This deletes the item from your project and removes the shape in the model.
